Deanna Cappella has spent nearly 10 years in the private education sector. She completed her BA in English at the University of Sussex in 2017, where she discovered a love of teaching through outreach programmes to local state schools. She moved on to complete her PGCE at a prestigious co-educational boarding school in Sussex, where she held both academic and pastoral leadership roles for three years. She joined Queen’s Gate in 2023 as Deputy Head of English, and was appointed Assistant Director of Studies in September 2025. She is an experienced examiner for Edexcel and champions a love of learning – and of reading! Her experience has led her to conduct various professional development sessions here at Queen’s Gate, and she has also presented on the importance of English teaching in schools to the King’s English Society. Living on the coast, she enjoys spending time at the beach, and when she isn’t reading, you might find her crocheting, baking with her dad, or writing poetry.
