Queen’s Gate School has announced that Mrs Lydia Kyle will take up the role of Acting Principal for the 2026-27 school year, following the decision of current Principal Miss Amy Wallace to step down at the end of the academic year due to relocation.
Miss Wallace, who joined the school as Principal in September 2022, is leaving the school in a strong position as it embarks on an exciting new chapter.
Reica Gray, Chair of Governors at Queen’s Gate, said, “We are delighted to announce that Mrs Lydia Kyle, current Director of the Junior School, has agreed to serve as Acting Principal for the school year 2026-27. She will be ably supported by Mr Christian Kendall-Daw, our existing Vice-Principal, and we are confident that they will provide stability and continuity for pupils and staff as we embark on our next phase of development. She will be working alongside Miss Wallace over the summer term to ensure a smooth handover.”
She added, “We are incredibly grateful to Miss Wallace for her four years of service to Queen’s Gate, during which she has enhanced the quality and effectiveness of teaching and learning across the school, led the school through an extremely successful inspection under the new ISI regulatory framework, and upgraded the professional development provision and opportunities for staff.”
Miss Wallace said, “After over a year of flying back and forth, my partner and I have decided the time has come to settle on one base, and for us that will be Belfast. I am very sad to be moving on from Queen’s Gate, which is such an incredible institution to lead, and will miss our pupils, parents and staff greatly. I look forward to following the school’s news from afar, and seeing it go from strength to strength.”
The Board of Governors has begun the formal search for a permanent Principal, which is expected to conclude in the autumn term.
