Sixth Form English students experienced a gripping new stage adaptation of Dracula, written by Morgan Lloyd Malcolm and directed by Emma Baggott at the the Lyric Theatre. This feminist retelling put Mina Harker at the centre of the story, blending striking visuals, live music, and a powerful reimagining of the Gothic classic.
Twelve pupils from Years 10 to 13 represented our school at the Alleyn’s National Model United Nations Conference in Dulwich, joining students from across London for a day of lively debate and diplomacy. They engaged with global issues, drafted resolutions, and celebrated outstanding achievements - with special congratulations to Jasmin (Commended) and Vicky (Highly Commended).
✨ Celebrating Diwali at QG ✨
Diwali, the Festival of Lights, is a time to celebrate joy, hope, and new beginnings.
We decorated the front of the school with beautiful diyas and colourful torans, and students got creative with diya painting - adding their own vibrant touch to the festivities.
The celebrations continued with a delicious lunch of navratan korma, butter chicken, basmati rice, naan, and crunchy poppadoms.
This afternoon, our Friday assembly was beautifully led by Alisha and Mishi, bringing the QG community together in the true spirit of Diwali.
In this Wednesday’s Wider World talk, students heard from Baxter McRolston, Anglican Priest and Assistant Curate at St Luke`s & Christ Church Chelsea. He delivered an insightful exploration of the theological foundations and significance of Harvest Festival, drawing on his academic background in theology, politics, and Islamic studies.
It’s was a busy week in PE, with Year 7 and Year 8 hosting Queen’s College for their first netball fixtures, Year 6 taking on strong Glendower teams, and our cross country squad giving their all at the ESSA Cross Country Cup. It was fantastic to see older pupils supporting younger runners, showing true QG spirit - well done to everyone who competed on court and course!
Last week, the Thomas Franks Foundation and Queen’s Gate School, as part of our Harvest Festival, came together to tackle hunger in London. In one afternoon, girls prepared 1,000 meals which were distributed to those in need across London and surrounding areas. A huge thank you to everyone who gave their time to make this huge operation such a success.
