This week, Years 5 and 6 enjoyed a wonderful visit to the Royal College of Music, where they participated in an immersive concert performance of Peter and the Wolf. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience live orchestral music and storytelling in an inspiring setting, just around the corner from our school!
We loved welcoming everyone to celebrate the amazing GCSE and A-Level work on display at our Annual Art and DT Exhibition. While we can`t share the artwork online just yet, we can share a few moments from the evening itself. Thank you to everyone who came - we’re so excited to show you some of the work as soon as we can!
As part of their Biology field trip to Hyde Park, the LVI students analysed their data back at the Learning Centre. Using statistical tests, they investigated how environmental factors impact the plants and animals they had observed in the park. A perfect blend of outdoor science and critical thinking!
Last week, the Year 12 biologists spent a day in glorious sunshine exploring the ecology of Hyde Park. Using quadrats and transects, they practised fieldwork techniques and collected sample data from a range of habitats.
Last week Year 10 went on a Classics trip to Oxford and this is what they thought:
“The trip was the best I`d been! Arriving at the Ashmolean Museum and studying a range of artefacts, from ancient Greece and Rome, we`d only seen on paper was unreal. The group activity which involved interpreting what artefacts might have been used for really gave us an insight into how different lives were lived. We handled Classical Athenian coins, a strigil used to clean sweat off athletes` bodies, and a piece of a heating system from Roman Britain, to name a few.
Walking around Oxford past the colleges and seeing the city’s beautiful architecture reflecting its history motivated us to work harder for our future. Speaking to an esteemed professor about Euripides` tragedy, Medea, allowed us to know what life might be like at university and has only developed our passion for Classics even further. Thank you to the Classics Department for a great trip!" - Luella and Leena, Year 10
