125th Anniversary Celebrations
In 2016, Queen’s Gate School celebrated its 125th Anniversary with a variety of exciting events.
In January, we kicked off the year with our 125th Anniversary Ball, and in February had our Science Laboratories opened by HRH The Duchess of Cornwall and girls performed the musical Merrily We Roll Along at RADA’s Jerwood Vanbrugh Theatre. In March, the Remove turned back time with a special Showcase, in May the Senior School turned all Victorian for a day, and in July the Junior School went back in time themselves! The final event of the Summer Term saw Parents, staff and Old Girls come together for the 125th Anniversary Garden Party, before everyone departed for a well-earned break.
Following the summer holidays, on Wednesday 21 September, the 125th Anniversary Church Service took place, celebrating the day the School first opened. Two weeks later, our musical Old Girls and Sixth Formers formed a fabulous combined choir for the 125th Anniversary Concert, directed by Mrs Mailley-Smith.
The last Anniversary event of the year was on Monday 14 November when the school presented Inside the Archives: 125 Years of Queen’s Gate, an exhibition evening of all things Queen’s Gate, for everyone to enjoy. As well as journeying through the special exhibits, guests enjoyed talks from TV historian, broadcaster and author, Hallie Rubenhold, Queen’s Gate Residents Association Chair, Caryl Harris, and former Headmistress of the Junior School, Nia Webb.
