Curriculum
Our curriculum is broad and balanced in the first three years of the Senior School, thus ensuring that GCSE choices are made on the basis of experience, personal interest and strengths.
At GCSE, all girls take the core subjects of Mathematics, English Language, English Literature, at least one of the four Modern languages French, Spanish, Italian, German and a Science.
The range of optional subjects on offer is reviewed on a regular basis, thus reflecting contemporary society as well as the educational interests of our girls, with GCSEs in Ancient Greek, Latin and Classical Civilisation taking their place beside History, Geography, Design and Technology, Religious Studies, Art, Music and Drama.
Further details of these courses may be found in the 2009-10 GCSE Options Booklet , or you may wish to visit a department's web page.
At A level, girls may choose from 28 subjects, normally taking 4, or perhaps 5 subjects at AS level, then reducing to 3, sometimes 4, at A2. Details of these courses may be found in the Sixth Form options booklet.
All Sixth Formers are also expected to follow a course in Citizenship, Careers and Communication, take part in a Games programme and contribute to school life and the wider community.
