Development
September 2007 saw the opening of two further fully refurbished buildings at 125/126 Queen's Gate. As well as providing splendid accommodation for our Junior School, they also house new Science laboratories for the Senior School. The space vacated by the Juniors in 131/133 has also been refurbished and now provides improved facilities for departments in the Senior School.
March 2007 saw the launch of the Queen's Gate Foundation. The Foundation is the fundraising arm of the School and works closely with the PTA to provide bursaries for pupils and to assist with ongoing refurbishment of the buildings at 131-133. Over the past 18 months, its activities have helped to fund the new Drama Studio and to create the greatly enhanced Sixth Form Centre. This summer Foundation funds paid for professional lighting in the Drama Studio and for five new interactive whiteboards in the Senior School.
The Foundation has hosted several events at the School, perhaps most memorable of which to date was the Inaugural Dinner in February 2008 when Michael Portillo was the guest of honour and entertained guests with a very amusing after-dinner speech!
During the last academic year, all the funds raised by the Junior School were kindly donated to the Foundation, including monies raised at a wonderful Champagne and Sushi Evening. The proceeds from our annual Christmas Fair were also given to the Foundation and have helped support 50% bursaries for two students.
The support of all parents for these events is very much valued and appreciated. We also welcome ideas for future such events, so please contact Mrs Manina Weldon, Queen's Gate Foundation Chair, via the School on 020 7589 3587 with your suggestions!
