The MUN award streak continues!

Posted on 20 January 2020 by Miss Amy Hinds, Communications Officer

This weekend, 12 pupils took part in a three-day MUN conference at St Paul’s School. As well as Queen’s Gate, schools including Westminster, Godolphin & Latymer, St Paul’s Girls, UCS, Hampstead, London Oratory and Merchant Taylor’s also took part.

Tasked with representing China and Iraq, our girls played full and active roles in their committees, debating topics ranging from the impact of Russia’s expansionism and the question of cultural genocide in the Amazon, to the rights of suspected terrorists and the future legal status of Hong Kong.

Luna Middleton-Roy and Clara Cole – both MUN awards winners – were invited to take up the role of Guest Chairs in the Security Council and Legal committees respectively, an outstanding achievement as these roles are only offered to advanced MUN delegates.

The Friday MUN clubs and diligent preparation paid off, with four pupils gaining awards for their performance – given only 18 awards were available and over 150 delegates present this achievement is all the more special.

Diane-Sophie Capelle was awarded ‘Best Speaker’ in her China committee and Alexandra Cheytanova and Maria Posada were presented with the ‘Most Accurate to Country’ award.

Sara Kapoor, the youngest member of our QG MUN team, secured the ‘Best Overall Delegate award’ in her beginners committee – an exceptional recognition.

Well done to all!
