Singing for the Kids

Posted on 2 December 2016 by Miss Amy Hinds, Communications Officer

The Choirs of Queen’s Gate were once again invited to feature in this year’s Kids for Kids Candlelit Christmas Concert at St Peter’s Church, Eaton Square, on Thursday 1 December.

Hosted by ITV newsreader Julie Etchingham, the event saw Patron Joanna Lumley, OBE, actor Timothy West, CBE, and Queen’s Gate Principal Mrs Kamaryc read a range of poems and prose. Kids for Kids Founder Patricia Parker, MBE, spoke with passion and thankfulness for the wonderful work and commitment that has been shown by donors over the past year.

The Queen’s Gate Junior Choir, led by Director of Music Mr Liepa, and Senior School Chamber Choir, directed by Teacher of Singing Mrs Mailley-Smith, shone by performing Elgar’s The Snow and Britten’s This Little Babe (Chamber Choir), I Would Light a Candle and A Donkey’s Surprise (Junior Choir) amongst other treats.

The concert also saw the Celebrity Choir lead the congregation in a carol, the choice this year being Silent Night.

Many thanks to Patricia for inviting the Choirs of Queen’s Gate to be involved in such a wonderful event, and we will continue to spread the word of Kids for Kids and fundraise further for them over the coming year.
