Queen’s Gate in the USA

Posted on 22 February 2017 by Miss Amy Hinds, Communications Officer

During February half-term, Principal Mrs Kamaryc, Head of Sixth Form Dr Lee, and Alumnae Relations Officer Mrs Thackwray, embarked on a trip across the North Atlantic Ocean to visit Queen’s Gate Old Girls living, studying and working in and around New York and Boston. During the trip the trio also toured the US Universities which are becoming ever more popular choices for Sixth Form girls to apply to following their A Levels.

Visits to Sarah Lawrence, NYU, Parsons School of Design, Princeton, Northeastern and Boston College were enjoyed by the QG staff, with information sessions and tours of the campuses given by some QG Old Girls as well as other students. Mrs Kamaryc and Dr Lee also spent time with Admissions staff to gain further insight into UK applications to USA institutions. The new information the School now has will help support our girls’ current and future subject choices and applications.

Alongside touring universities, the School held events for Old Girls and their guests in each city, giving the opportunity to connect with their peers and socialise. In New York, a drinks and canapés reception was held at the Top of the Strand, with a stunning view of the Empire State Building becoming the evening’s backdrop. In Boston, a delicious meal was enjoyed by everyone at the Atlantic Fish Company.

This was a hugely enjoyable and informative trip and huge thanks to everyone who was able to be part of making it such a successful venture.
