I’m Dancing and Singin’ in the Rain

Posted on 25 April 2018 by Miss Amy Hinds, Communications Officer

The Junior School pupils got their brollies out at the ready (and not because of the hovering grey clouds over South Kensington) on Tuesday 24 April as they embarked on their three-show run at the Chelsea Theatre of the wonderful MGM Musical, Singin’ In the Rain.

The 48-strong cast of Year 5 and 6 girls showed off their performance talents as the black-box theatre was transported back to the roaring 1920s in Hollywood. The girls excelled in the large dancing and singing numbers, which included Broadway Melody, All I Do Is Dream Of You and of course, the title track, where yellow raincoats and umbrellas flooded the stage with colour.

The girls were ably led by main characters Cecily Morrissey (Don Lockwood), Gioia Duenas (Kathy Seldon), Sophie Tomala (Cosmo Brown), Alessa Lindblad Hill (Lina Lamont) and Kay Cottrell (R.F. Simpson), who all showed their strengths in both the comic and serious elements of the show.

Well done to all the cast and crew, a truly brilliant production of a true classic!
