Celebrating the Year of the Pig!

Posted on 8 February 2019 by Miss Emily Acton-Edmiston

On Thursday 7 February, we celebrated the Year of the Pig with a special Chinese New Year evening.

The evening began with a champagne reception, sponsored by CH&CO, followed by a delicious Chinese dinner. The Black Dining Room and Senior School Hall were adorned with beautiful decorations made by the Junior School pupils, including pink lanterns and paper mache pigs!

The London Confucius Institute provided fantastic entertainment, including an impressive Chinese Lion dance to the beat of drums and a striking fan display. We were also lucky enough to be joined by Queen’s Gate peripatetic teachers and mother and daughter, Mitra and Alice, for a wonderful piano duet.

The fortune cookie raffle was a great hit, with lots of wonderful prizes won, including lunch at Bluebird Chelsea and a bespoke bouquet of flowers by Old Girl, Alissa Lambina’s floristry business, Untitled Flowers.

Many thanks to everyone that came along to support. Thanks also go to the Sixth Form helpers who made wonderful waitresses, providing professional, friendly service to our guests.

Proceeds from the evening will go towards the Queen’s Gate Foundation which supports bursaries at the school.
