Alex Bellos is the author of books about mathematics and football, and is the puzzle columnist at The Guardian newspaper. After graduating from Oxford with a degree in Mathematics and Philosophy, he worked at The Guardian, initially at its London office and later in Rio de Janeiro, where he was its unusually numerate foreign correspondent.
His first book was Futebol: The Brazilian Way of Life, and he ghostwrote Pelé’s autobiography. His maths books Alex’s Adventures in Numberland, Alex Through the Looking Glass, Visions of Numberland, Can You Solve My Problems?, Puzzle Ninja and So You Think You’ve Got Problems? have sold more than half a million copies. He is also the co-author of the children’s book series Football School.
